Entrepreneurs and STEM Education

A successful entrepreneur must have certain personality traits. Motivation is very
important. This trait involves being enthusiastic, optimistic and driven to succeed.
These people have high levels of energy and work hard for what they want. They
also need to use creativity. Creatively thinking about what products and services
people need is an important skill. How that product or service can meet people’s
needs in a new or better way is helpful for success.
Entrepreneurs must have a high risk tolerance. Risk tolerance means that you
accept risk. Many of your ideas may fail. You will need to accept failure. It is
important to learn from the failure. All entrepreneurs have had ideas that did not
work. Successful people learn from their failure and then succeed in the future.
Vision is another important quality. A vision is an idea for what you want to create
or do in the future. Vision helps people plan for what work needs to be done to
make the idea a reality. It also helps guide their work now and in the future.
Entrepreneurs have a strong vision and will to work toward that vision. This drive
is often what separates success from failure.
In addition to these traits, STEM education can be important in helping future
entrepreneurs. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.
STEM Education helps people develop the knowledge and skills needed to
create new products or services in the future.
Africa is one continent strongly promoting STEM education. At a recent United
Nations meeting, an African leader explained the reason. She said that STEM
education will be very important for African countries as they grow. It will be
important because countries will need more entrepreneurs and professionals in
STEM careers. This knowledge and skill can help solve critical problems. Many
of these problems can result in sickness or death. With new ideas, we can help
people be healthy and happy.
