Minnesota’s Standards for Science
MEET THE DEMANDS OF
MINNESOTA’S STANDARDS FOR SCIENCE
Minnesota’s Academic Standards for Science require educators to shift their classroom focus from transmission of information to application of knowledge through real-world experiences. While the benefits may be clear, how to achieve these benefits has presented educators with a new set of challenges.
Real-world performance tasks are well suited to meeting the educational goals of the Science Standards. They provide opportunities for students to SOLVE PROBLEMS and CREATE SOLUTIONS to real-life situations — the essence of the Standards.
Defined Learning provides an online library of PRE-BUILT PERFORMANCE TASKS that ALIGN TO MINNESOTA’S STANDARDS to save time lesson planning. Each project is based on a real-world situation in a relevant career and helps students connect classroom content to career pathways. Our engaging projects empower students to build the skills they need to meet the demands of these new rigorous standards.
Here are a few of our teachers’ favorite performance tasks that align to Minnesota’s Standards that you can use (FREE) in your classroom this year:
