From kindergarten to post-graduation, Defined Learning focuses on individual students and how best to capture their interests and push them to take accountability for their education. Our belief is that all learners need access to real-world experience in order to develop the necessary skills that will form their character and identity for life. The concept of project based learning fulfills student need as well as the need for educators to facilitate innovative classrooms with efficiency and authenticity.
Project based learning transforms classrooms into experiential learning environments that lead students through engaging, real-world projects that foster curiosity and aptitude. More than singular projects, project based learning is a way to enhance education by appealing to problem-solving and critical thinking based on topics and subjects that students are interested in. Our approach to career education is a threefold system that focuses specifically on individual students. It takes into account how students prefer to study, their values, and their interests. This approach lends itself to a unique assessment that goes beyond a generated list of career choices, instead engaging the student in project based learning relating directly to real-world, on-the-job scenarios. Teachers leading students through Defined Learning programs have the added benefit of being exposed to incredible professional development opportunities focused on project based learning that are both manageable and meaningful.
